Enhance your Photos with Smartphone & Tablet Apps

As RVers, there are many opportunities to take photos during your travels of your family and friends. Both smartphones and tablets have changed the way we think about taking pictures and sharing them with others. They have replaced the time-consuming film development and provided us with instant gratification of our seeing a moment in our memories while we are still living in the experience. Ultimately, in seconds after the photograph is taken, we can share them with many people all over the world through the use of social media.

However, smartphones and tablets have the capacity to do so much more. Have you ever thought about enhancing a photo by improving a dark, shadowy area? What about making a photo collage?

Or, maybe you want to remove an individual who just accidentally walked into the background? The following three apps will help you achieve these effects and much more. Best of all, they are available for both Apple and Android smartphones and tablets (unless noted). Give them a try and take your photography to a new exciting level.

Photogene & Photogene2

A full suite of editing tools is offered in the Photogene & Photogene2 tool kit. These apps offer cropping, straightening, retouching, resizing, adjusting color, adding special effects and even hidden fields inside the photo file that allow you to add information about where the photo was taken.

For example, if you capture a nice photo with less-than-optimal lighting, you can adjust the exposure to lighten and brighten dark areas. You can also insert text, create collages, export multiple photos and more. The apps are currently available for Apple devices and range in price from 99 cents to $2.99.

TouchRetouch®

TouchRetouch allows you to remove unwanted objects and people from your photos with just the touch of your finger on both the Android and Apple smartphones and tables. Lasso the object you want to delete and then press “Go” button and watch the unwanted object just disappear. After deleting the object, just save the photo to your library and then send it to all your family and friends or post on social media. No one ever has to know, but you. The cost for this app is 99 cents.

PicCollage®

Imaging selecting several related photograph from your phone or tablet library and merging them together into one photo or display.

PicCollage® allows you to do just that. You can create custom collages that are perfect for sharing with family and friends on social media sites. The nice feature about the app is that you can arrange the pictures in any manner you choose or you can select one of the available frames to organize the photos. The app also allows you to add text, stickers and even change the background of the photos. PicCollage® is available for free on both the Apple and Android platforms.

So, as you travel the country headed to your many destinations in your RV or luxury motorhome, take lots of photographs and consider using these apps to make sharing your adventures with others more fun.
