Cookouts at the RV Campground

When it comes to cooking, storage, and recipes, RV kitchens are different from bricks and sticks setups. Whether you’ve got a motorhome, a 5th wheel, a travel trailer, or a small pop-up RV, there are still plenty of recipes that are perfect for cooking at the campsite.

If you’re looking to cook at the campground, it’s easy to host a cookout! Stretch out the awning, fire up the grill (or convection microwave, we’re not judging!), and enjoy the freedom of cooking in your RV. If you’re grilling or using our outdoor RV kitchen amenities, it’s even easier to enjoy nature as you’re preparing.

4th of July Recipes for RVers

Now that you’re ready to get cooking, it’s time to pick a recipe. You can scale down many popular traditional cookout recipes and focus on ones that incorporate your existing appliances. Of course, bringing an outdoor propane or charcoal grill along can also make it easy to have a cookout wherever you’re camping. Our favorite RV cookout recipes feature convection microwaves, grills, and other small appliances that are perfect for the RV.

Grilling Classics

The quintessential 4th of July Recipe for any cookout involves a hot grill and traditional ingredients. Hot dogs, hamburgers, and plenty of vegetables are a common sight at any summertime cookout. For RVers, these handheld dishes are easy to grill and perfect for quick cooking at the campsite. Even a small charcoal grill can create delicious campground BBQ classics!

Campfire Fireworks S’Mores

The campfire is another easy way to whip up some campsite cookout classics. While enjoying the fireworks on The 4th of July, you can sit around the campfire and roast some classic s’mores as well. You can add a colorful firework twist by adding sprinkles to the marshmallows just before taking a bite.

Microwave Dishes with a Convection Microwave

Your RV’s convection microwave is a great appliance for all types of cooking. It’s the perfect appliance for preparing 4th of July recipes for side dishes, such as pizza and even roasted cauliflower.

If you’re looking for a convection microwave recipe that’s the perfect companion for grilling favorites like burgers, try your hand at microwave potato skins. First, poke holes in your cleaned potatoes to let the steam out while they’re cooking in the microwave. Heat the potatoes on high in the microwave for around 5 minutes or until soft. Then, cut the potatoes in half and scoop out the insides leaving about a quarter of an inch of potato around the potato skin. Cover the potato skins in olive oil and use the microwave’s convection setting to crisp the potato skins, cooking for 5 minutes. Flip the potato skins, cook for another 5, and then cover with your favorite toppings. Yum!

Themed 4th of July Desserts

Desserts are a sweet way to finish your 4th of July celebrations! Try bringing red, white, and blue into your favorite dessert dishes for a patriotic twist. One fun recipe is to take strawberries and dip them about halfway into melted white chocolate. Then, immediately dip the strawberry tips into some blue sprinkles and let the strawberries rest on a parchment-lined baking sheet until the chocolate has hardened. This is a quick red, white, and blue chocolate strawberry recipe that’s easy to enjoy!
