If you’ve never checked out the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta, you need to. One of the most spectacular events in the southwest, the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta is an annual celebration that showcases hot-air balloons in the beauty of the New Mexican landscape. The 2015 fiesta is taking place from October 3 through 11, so there’s still time to get out there and see it for yourself.
A world renowned attraction for over 40 years, guests can enjoy the sight of hundreds of hot-air balloons in the crisp fall air at one time. According to the fiesta’s official website, the “signature event remains Balloon Fiesta—which, with almost 600 balloons, is the largest ballooning event on earth, the most photographed event on earth, and the largest annual international event held in the United States.”
You can even reserve a ride and go up in the air to see what the hot-air pilots see!
The entry fee for 2015 includes attendance of one session — there are morning and evening sessions every day, and your admittance covers all events and activities for that session. General admission for one session for people 12 and older is $8.00. You can also get a 5 pack of general admission tickets for $35.00.
Can I Go in my RV?
Not only can you, but we’d highly recommend it. The event is very friendly to RVers and is one of the best ways to enjoy the spectacle to the fullest extent.
The rates for 2015 (subject to change) are $30/night for a standard dry camping space, $65/night for premium spots with 30 amps and water connection, $85/night for VIP East/West spaces (dry camping next to launching field with 2 entry passes included), and $150/night for the President’s Compound, which includes space on a bluff overlooking the launch field, city water pressure, and 30 amp hookups — plus, you’ll get 4 entry passes.
What If I Can’t Make It This Year?
There’s always next year! And RVs are welcome — reservations for the 2016 Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta will open October 20, 2015, with full payment due at the time of booking. This is a bucket-list worthy event, so plan to attend!
